Mom and I met Sister No. 6 at the Sunset Cafe in Greensburg for dinner this evening. I left Donna Leon's "Acqua Alta" on the banister leading up to the main door before we went in because something about the cover inspired me to release it somewhere Italian.

Becky Johns was a warm-hearted, loving 9-year-old, whose life was cut tragically short on 30 August, 2010, when she was struck by a car while riding her bike. To commemorate what would have been her 10th birthday, her father, BookCrosser ResQgeek, organized a mass release, of which I was honored to take part. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting her, I released 10 books in her memory over the past two days: "Caring Contest," by Nancy Parent; "Piglet Meets A Heffalump," by A.A. Milne; "An Expotition to the North Pole," by A.A. Milne; "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too," by A.A. Milne; "Christopher Robin Gives A Pooh Party," by A.A. Milne; "Oh, Bother! Someone's Afraid of the Dark," by Betty Birney; "Roo's New Babysitter," by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld; "Pooh Goes Visiting and Pooh and Piglet Nearly Catch a Woozle," by A.A. Milne; "Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest," by A.A. Milne, and; "Piglet Is Entirely Surrounded by Water," by A.A. Milne.

Wild Releases #1079 - #1081

Sister No. 6 hit a milestone birthday this week, so we and a couple of our friends decided to play hooky from work and do some shopping in Ligonier. In our travels around town, I managed to leave three books: "Warning at One," by Ann Purser, on a bench outside Abigail's Coffeeshop; "Bookplate Special," by Lorna Barrett, on a bench outside the VFW, and; "Taking the Wrap," by Dolores Johnson, on the porch of The Strawberry Crow.
