The skinny fries at Steak 'n Shake were calling to me today, so I followed their siren song at lunchtime. On my way in, I left "Here on Earth," by Alice Hoffman, on top of the garbage can outside the entrance doors. It (and a plateful of skinny fries) was gone when I left.
