This blog follows my adventures in BookCrossing--the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise. It is a fascinating exercise in fate, karma, or whatever you want to call the chain of events that can occur between two or more lives and one piece of literature.

Wild Release #111
I had a craving for Panera Bread soup for lunch and I managed to prop "The Book Thief," by Markus Zusak, in a chair on the sidewalk outside around 12:45 p.m., without being seen. I sat at a table by the window inside where I had a pretty good view of the book and I saw about a dozen people look at it, but pass it by, and a couple dozen more just pass it by. It was still there when I left at 1:15 p.m.
