I was out of the house this morning before everyone was awake. I always like to have at least one early morning at the ocean before it gets hot and crowded. I released "Beach Road," by James Patterson and Peter de Jonge, at the gazebo at the top of the beach access off Morris Drive in the Corolla Light resort, and it was gone by the time I went back to the house for a long-awaited pancakes-and-bacon breakfast.
After spending the rest of the morning at the beach, I drove to the Corolla Light Town Center shops to get lunch for everyone. On my way out, I left Dav Pilkey's "Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants" in a giant Adirondack chair in front of the shops.
