This blog follows my adventures in BookCrossing--the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise. It is a fascinating exercise in fate, karma, or whatever you want to call the chain of events that can occur between two or more lives and one piece of literature.

Wild Release #450
I planned to leave "The Picture of Dorian Gray," by Oscar Wilde, somewhere outside the Westmoreland Museum of American Art--on a bench, or a planter, etc.--but when I pulled up to its main entrance I was met by this giant anthropomorphized flame-spewing, steel-making balloon and I felt I must leave it there. I gently placed it on one of the black straps that was holding the balloon down, snapped a photo, and was on my way.
